Intelligent, talented people bear a great responsibility. They can tragically stifle their ability altogether or squander it purely in the pursuit of selfish ambition. On the other hand, other such individuals may choose to actively channel their abilities towards accomplishing real good. History has shown that seismic changes that have worked for the real good of all humanity are almost always initiated, if not always ultimately carried out, by exceptionally bright people.

But what is maybe even more tragic than seeing an intelligent person squander his or her ability is when such a person chooses to utilize that God-given capacity to advance the cause of evil. How much worse is a life that is prostituted to a cause which wrecks the lives of other human beings and deceives others that are perhaps less gifted? As much as I hate to name names, one person in particular among us seems to be proudly starring in his own tragedy, unreservedly turning his abilities toward advancing the tide of spiritual darkness. That person is Matt Hill Comer.

However embarrassing it is for me to have to mention Matt by name - and it is - it does not compare to the humiliation he will endure when he discovers his activist lifestyle has been predicated upon an elaborate web of self-deception. No one should think I have unfairly singled him out. Matt is every bit as zealously aligned with the homosexual movement now as I was with the conservative movement three years ago. And whenever a man prostitutes his soul for a man-made cause, particularly an immoral one, true love demands somebody get in his face.

Matt is deceived about sin and grace. For example, Matt claims he has tasted of that sola gratia that brings a person into reconciliation with the one true God. Yet he openly maintains that God accepts his and would accept your sexual desires for members of the same sex. Could he be right? Listen to this: "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present age" (Titus 2:11,12). Here my Bible says that the grace that saves also teaches certain things. What is the first of those things? "Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts." So grace doesn't just save and then go on to the next person. It teaches. And if a person isn't being taught by grace to deny such ungodliness and lust - but actually publicly parades and justifies them - his actions betray his words. He is still a stranger to the grace that saves. "He who says, 'I know Him(God)' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the Truth is not in him," (1 John 2:4).

Suppose long ago an ancient ruler with absolute power set up a statue in the middle of the square of his capital city. Along with the erection of the statue, he followed it up with a very public decree that the statue was of a very great person that deserved respect. Anyone that did not give proper reverence to the statue would be severely punished.

Now suppose a man in the town publicly walks up to the statue and spits on it. Then he urinates on it in full view. Then he yells curses at it and makes obscene gestures towards it that makes the women in the town cover the eyes of their small children. The crowd assumes the man has a death-wish. But then the man does something stunning: He turns to the crowd that has gathered and says his defiance of the statue is being done in the name of the very ruler that just demanded it be honored! The heralds of the ruler are quickly sent to reaffirm to the people the original decree to prevent the spread of confusion. And soon the jailer comes and hauls off the man that provoked the ruler.

The God that holds Matt Hill Comer's breath in His hand declares through the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments that the sexual union between a man and a woman within the canopy of marriage is sacrosanct. Sexual desire is beautiful and inexpressibly meaningful, but only as it finds its expression in this institution prescribed by God. Anything else my King declares to be serious perversion that carries eternal consequences. He says, "Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God" (I Corinthians 6:9, 10). No amount of activism can erase this decree by my King.

But unlike the heralds in that story about the ancient ruler, my King has given me terms of peace to offer. In the wink of an eye, God can frown into hell all those rebels like Matt Hill Comer, the members of PRIDE!, and all those administrators and students that have foolishly desecrated what the King calls sacred. Yet this Ruler I serve has not spared His own Son in order that those who are His enemies might be restored - not only as obedient subjects, but as adopted children of the King Himself! For all that would accept these terms of peace and lay down their arms, the King has transferred the just penalty of their rebellion to Jesus Christ. I didn't finish the 1 Corinthians 6 passage with that terrible list of sins. It continues by saying, "And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

Matt has called me a loudmouth. Heralds usually are. Matt's god is the homosexual cause. That movement is his idol. But the message I carry is not my own, nor does it belong to eccentric fundamentalists like Jerry Falwell or Exodus ministries. It comes straight from the court of Him whom Death could not hold, the resurrected and ascended Christ. All sinners must flee to Him for mercy or continue to spit upon the scepter of His rule. If the wages of sin is death, then God often renders swift payment to the openly profane. Call off your war against God and accept His terms of peace. Only then you will be able to speak accurately about the goodness and grace of God.
