The Carolinian has been UNCG’s student newspaper since 1919 and is dedicated to providing an independent source of news, information, and entertainment for UNCG students. We are a weekly publication, coming out every Tuesday except for holidays. We print 4,000 or more copies each week and receive an average of 4200 hits per week on our website, CAROLINIANONLINE.COM. We are completely student run and pay our staff with advertising revenue. (Yes, we said PAY.) Our printing costs are covered by student fees allocated by the University Media Board. This is the only student money we receive.
Employees of the Carolinian have gone on to write for: the Greensboro News & Record; Go Triad; Yes! Weekly; the Village Voice; the Nashville City Paper (Tennessee); and many others. Internship opportunities with local publications become available throughout the year.
