For me, there's no doubt about it: Halloween is the sexiest holiday ever. It's the one time of year where people let go of their inhibitions and let their sexuality shine as brightly as the full moon. What other time of the year can you see girls roaming the campus in skimpy nurse or fairy costumes? When else would guys step outside their doors dressed as pimps or female genitalia (see the CollegeHumor.com picture archives if you don't believe me)?

Halloween has always been super special to me, right from the time I was a little girl. I have the most adorable pictures of me as a tot dressed up as a rock star, complete with glittery metallic makeup, a black lightning spandex leotard, and an insane purple Tina Turner-ish wig. I'm sure we can all remember the time when a plastic pumpkin pail full of candy equaled happiness.

As the years went by and the childhood innocence of the holiday wore off, I began to experience the teenage version of Halloween. Throughout our high school years, my friends and I would soak up the blood and gore of handfuls of slasher flicks as we knocked back the beers we scored from the fridge when the parentals weren't looking. Afterwards, we'd all don some saucy getups to a local party or band gig.

Since Halloween memories always stand out as my favorites from childhood and adolescence, it's no wonder why I still love the holiday. I even keep the spooky spirit alive throughout the rest of the year.

My all-time favorite movie genre is horror, and I can't deny having a bit of a vampire fetish. Candy corn is my choice confection and I don't need a reason to get all tarted up in a racy costume. Thanks to my black hair and green eyes, I get likened to Elvira, Lily Munster, and Morticia Addams year-round.

Back in high school, I fell in love with two things that heavily influenced me and my Halloween costume choices: glam rock music and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I couldn't (and still can't) get enough of the glittery, hedonistic decadence of either. Bands like Queen, David Bowie, and T-Rex ruled my record player, while Rocky Horror reigned supreme over my VCR.

Anyone who is not familiar with these two products of the 70's won't benefit from my describing them here. These are things you just have to experience, and you'll either love them or hate them. Homophobes and prudes beware: sexual freedom is a dominant theme in both.

In 1980, I was a male graduate student at UNCG and had a girlfriend who was into The Rocky Horror Picture Show. She was a good girlfriend and so I went along with her eccentric lifestyle. (Continued…)
