I was slightly irritated when I read Hannah Burdette's article in support of a bilingual program that is paid for by tax payers. I have no issue with Spanish speaking immigrants coming to America. I also agree that some allowances should be made for these immigrants. I do not agree that we should have to pay for a bilingual program.
I am happy that Spanish immigrants want to come to America but I think that they need to adapt to our culture and language. If I were to go live in Mexico they would not change everything to accomodate me. They would expect me to adapt. I believe that these immigrants should be allowed some Spanish interpretation but I also think that it is important for them to learn English because that is the language most often used in this country.
As far as Hannah's remarks on the jobs these people have in all fairness some of these people are happy with their job because they would not make as much money in Mexico. Immigrants come to America for a better life and America should try to accomodate but, the immigrants need to accomodate us by at least trying to adapt to American culture.
