Volleyball rallies, overcomes Georgia Southern

Spartans climb out of 0-2 hole to notch SoCon road win

The UNCG volleyball team overcame a 0-2 deficit on Saturday night against Georgia Southern to take a 3-2 victory at Hanner Fieldhouse in Statesboro, Ga.

Senior Theresa Hart and sophomore Kaitlyn Nortz combined for an astounding 45 kills in the win. The win over their Southern Conference opponents brings the Spartans to a 13-7 overall record with a 4-4 record in the SoCon.

Hart tallied a match high 27 kills along with 17 digs while Nortz recorded 21 kills and four blocks. Freshman Branagan Fuller and junior Lauren Keiser also recorded double digits efforts with 14 kills and 11 kills, respectively.

Freshman Lisa Fawell was one assist shy of the school record with 74 assists while freshman Catherine Hanners pumped out digs in the defensive effort. Saturday's win marked the second straight road conference win for the Spartans.

UNC Greensboro returns to action on Friday night to take on the Citadel in Charleston, SC at 7 p.m.
