Bush protest misdirected
Issue date: 10/17/06 Section: Letters to the Editor
The "Drive out the Bush regime" protest staged by UNCG students and other community activists was a great way to make their point of view known. Unfortunately, their message is sadly misdirected.
I too have been and continue to be very critical of the Bush administration. That said, changing the course of public policy lies with Congress and state legislatures, not with the President. After the November 7th elections this year, President Bush will become a lame duck, losing much of the influence he and his administration have had for the past six years.
Instead of focusing on attacking the Bush administration which will become increasingly less influential over the next two years, we should be focused on supporting candidates and campaigns that best represent our interests. Rather than driving out the Bush regime, let's instead elect new blood to Washington.
