Just about three years ago, Scott decided to pitch a talk show all about movies (with a bit of music thrown in here and there) to the producers at WUAG, and somehow, without any previous radio experience, The Movie Show was born. Scott put his love of movies to work, and aired the show once a week on Thursday nights. In the 2nd year of the show, Scott decided he would take a break from movies and became the voice behind UNCG Tonight, sharing all of the information about happenings in the campus community. During an interview a couple of months into fall semester, however, the topic was turned towards movies, and Scott found that he was really more interested in talking about movies than about news and events. The Movie Show was revived, and Scott invited his friends Compton and Bradley to come aboard.
All three of the guys are clearly passionate about movies - but you would know that just by listening to the show, what with the random comments, movie quotes, and allusions. For them, the show is a release - a chance to talk about the things people are talking about anyway, to talk about movies with each other, and it's a way to run their mouths while getting people excited about all types of movies. There is also a huge perk in being able to interview people they admire - countless local and national celebrities including John Carpenter, Orson Scott Card, and Jon Gries (whom you may remember as Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite).
And although the show features plenty of movie reviews, as well as plugs for movies Scott, Compton, and Bradley are excited about, don't get The Movie Show confused with those other reviewers who either love or hate a film and make a movie out to be great or terrible. Not only did each of the guys stress that if you like a movie, that's fine, regardless of the film, Compton shared that "I think what sets our show apart is that we're not very elitist. I think we on The Movie Show are big fans of horrible movies [and] we try to steer people to the types of movies they'll like."
