UNC Greensboro's men's golf program finally got the monkey off its back on Halloween.

The team fired an astounding six-under par in the final round of the Sam Hall Intercollegiate to come from four strokes back and cruise to a five-shot victory.

The tournament was the team's final competition of the fall season. The Spartans had been improving steadily, placing seventh in their previous tournament. But the entire team pulled together to leave the rest of the 12-team field in the dust at the Mississippi -based tourney.

"Everyone played well, it was a complete team effort," said head coach Terrance Stewart.

"It was a great way to end the fall season."

UNCG was led by Nick Baker's fourth-place individual finish with a 209. He shot a final round 67, just one stroke off his career best of 66.

"This is the most mature team I've ever had," said Stewart. "We have four seniors and I fully expect us to win more tournament's in the spring."

The spring season will begin Feb. 17 when UNCG plays High Point in the Carolina Cup.
