"The Double Chocolate Stout is offered year round, but it's a seasonal best seller."

Winter brings a number of traditional drinks with it. Christmas memories are made while sipping hot chocolate. For some, it's egg nog during a holiday party. For others, it's beer.

Lager Haus, located at 338 Tate Street in Greensboro, offers an assortment of seasonal drinks. Currently, the popular Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale is no longer being offered due to its high demand and limited quantities. "The Pumpkin Ale is made in very limited supplies, which only lasts for about a couple of weeks," said Dawn Edwards, a bartender at the Lager Haus. "Todd Jones, the owner, says that the Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale isn't available anywhere. It's not just us. Whoever doesn't get a shipment of it when it first comes out won't even get to have it."

Guests interested in seasonal beers will be thrilled to hear that the Lager Haus offers six popular drinks aimed towards the holiday seasons. "All of our seasonal drinks, except for the Tar Heel Tarwebier, are not offered on tap," remarked Edwards.

Young's Luxury Double Chocolate Stout, Lager Haus's best selling seasonal drink, is advertised as being "Silky, Rich & Creamy Smooth." The slogan stands correct - this dark beer, poured straight up in a glass rather than tilted to the side, offers the rich taste of a true dessert beer. This beer, partially consisting of chocolate malt, is combined with a savory citrus taste.

"The Double Chocolate Stout is offered year round, but it's a seasonal best seller," says Edwards. "To me it's the beer with the most seasonal taste and I like its flavor better than Guinness." This London-made beer costs $4 per can.

Five other seasonal beers are offered at Lager Haus: The Tar Heel Tarwebier, their new seasonal Belgium dark wheat beer that is offered on tap and costs $4 per glass; Spaten Munich's Oktoberfest, also $4 per beer; Samuel Adams Winter Lager which costs $3 per beer; Magic Hat Beer by Roxy Rolles (a 3/4 pint of hoppy amber ale) costs $4 per beer; and Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome Ale, which sells in 12 ounce bottles for $5.
