Each week we ask students and faculty to submit their music, book and movie recommendations to the Arts and Entertainment section of The Carolinian. If you would like to submit your recommendations, please email a list of your all-time favorite song and a song you're hooked on right now (both including artists), your favorite book (including author) and movie. Please include your name and class rank or position, using "Recommendations" as the email subject. Send all emails to ae_thecarolinian@yahoo.com.
Here are your recommendations for this week:
Jenny Beth Halsey, senior. Jenny's favorite song is "Against the Wind" by Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band. Her favorite book is Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. Jenny's favorite movie is Cool Runnings.
Valerie Stinson, senior. Valerie could not choose one song, but chose to recommend a few bands and musical artists instead, including Theivery Coorperation, Akron Family, Juana Molina, and The Beatles. Her favorite book is In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, and her favorite movie is L'Auberge Espagnole.
Michelle Weathersby, senior. Michelle's favorite song is "Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show, and one she is hooked on right now is "Hotel Song" by Regina Spektor. Her favorite book is Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver, and her favorite movie is Fahrenheit 911.
John Boschini, freshman. John's favorite song is "Round Here" by the Counting Crows and the song he is hooked on right now is "Grey" by Ani Difranco. His favorite book is Bee Season by Myla Goldberg and John's favorite movie is Garden State.
