Volleyball team takes losses, but makes comeback
Spartans fall to Elon 3-1 and App State 3-2 before coming back to beat Davidson 3-0

UNCG's volleyball team hit another rough patch when they lost to Elon 3-1 and Appalachian State 3-2, but the Spartans were able to bring themselves out of their rut and beat Davidson 3-0.
The Spartans' Kaitlyn Nortz led her team to victory against Davidson with 15 kills. Nortz was not alone in her efforts, as teammate Emily Lindborg recorded 10 kills.
The first game of the match began close and at one time the teams were tied at 10-10, but with six kills from Nortz the Spartans were able to pull ahead 18-10, and the Spartans kept on going, taking game one 30-17.
Davidson proved to be a threat in the second game of the match. With back-to-back Wildcat kills Davidson managed to take the 24-23 lead, but the Spartans kept on fighting and came out with the 30-24 victory.
The Spartans dominated the third and final game of the match. Davidson's Kittery Neale and Katie Pierucci had multiple kills in the final game. but their efforts weren't enough and the Spartans took the final game 30-16, thus shutting out the Wildcats 3-0.
In game one of the Spartans' match up against the Appalachian State Mountaineers, UNCG took the early 3-1 lead. Just as quickly as the Spartans gained the lead the Mountaineers took it back. The duration of the game consisted of a lot of back-and-forth action, but the Spartans came out on top when they scored the final two points, taking game one as their own with the 30-28 victory.
Game two proved to be a bit more difficult for the Spartans, as the Mountaineers took the early game two lead. UNCG managed to shorten the distance of App's lead by five points, but that was as close as the Spartans got, as the Mountaineers took game two 30-25.
In game three the Mountaineer's offense outshined the Spartans' as they recorded a .233 hitting percentage compared to UNCG's -.065 hitting percentage. App's offensive dominance gave them the 30-23 victory and the 2-1 match lead.
Scrambling to tie the match, the Spartans began game four with the 20-16 lead, but the Mountaineers mounted a comeback and tied the game at 20-20. A Mountaineer error and a service ace from Nortz allowed the Spartans to pull out with the 36-34 victory and tied the match 2-2.
