City of Raleigh Arts Commission to celebrate 30th anniversary

As a part of the 30th anniversary of the City of Raleigh Arts Commission, 18 art organizations of the city have submitted posters to be displayed in the Miriam Block Gallery in the Avery C. Upchurch Government Complex. This display will begin Oct. 18. Winning entries from Raleigh's Art-On-The-Move project will also be on display. The City of Raleigh Arts Commission was put in place by the City Council in 1977.
Organizations who have submitted projects range from Art Together, Burning Coal Theatre Company to Theatre in the Park and Raleigh Boychoir.
Art-On-The-Move is a project sponsored by the City of Raleigh Arts Commission and Capital Area Transit. Selected artworks from 12 different artists were chosen to be displayed on the sides of CAT busses in Raleigh. The project started cruising the streets Sept. 22. These exhibitions will be on display at the Miriam Block Gallery until Nov. 15.
