So you don't like the musicians?
Philip Kassel
Issue date: 10/30/07 Section: Letters to the Editor
This letter is written in response to the guest column that was featured in The Carolinian on the week of Oct. 23 titled "So you don't like the Greeks?" This article was full of so much contradictory garbage that I actually checked my pulse to see if I died laughing.
Whoever wrote this article obviously does not realize that the School of Music at UNCG is flourishing with Greek life. First of all, it is home to 3 fraternities: Sigma Alpha Iota, Phi Mu Alpha, and Mu Phi Epsilon. We are service-oriented fraternities and try a great deal to avoid the "antisocialness to outsiders." Second of all, besides our own fraternities, many members of the music school are involved with other fraternities such as Mu Phi, Alpha Delta Pi, and Sigma Nu. All I'm trying to say is, maybe the author of that piece should have researched a little bit before writing his column. Also, I don't know many "elitist jazz" musicians who are actually good at jazz.
Philip Kassel is a member of Phi Mu Alpha and a Music Performance Major.
