Halloween is this Wednesday, and many of us are getting ready for this spooky holiday by getting costumes, decorating our dorms and houses, and preparing for parties. In line with the holiday spirit, we are featuring more Halloween recipes this week. These recipes make great snacks for yourself or for a party, and it is easy to multiply the ingredients to make plenty to share.
Halloween Spiders
2 cups chocolate chips
1 tablespoon butter
50 big marshmallows
Small pretzel sticks
1 bag M&Ms
Wax paper
Line a cookie sheet or plate with the wax paper. Break the pretzel sticks in half and stick 3 into each side of a marshmallow. Then melt the chocolate with the butter in the microwave stirring every 30 sec. Make sure to stir or the chocolate will burn! Dip the marshmallow spiders in the mixture and coat them using a spoon. Place each on the wax paper and put on the M&M's for eyes before the chocolate hardens. Allow to cool and then enjoy!
Caramel Apples
40 caramel cubes
5 apples
1 tablespoon water
Wooden popsicle sticks
Wax paper
Nuts (if desired)
Wash and then completely dry the apples. Remove the stem and insert the sticks in the top until half of the stick is inside the apple. In your microwave, melt the caramel, stirring every 30 sec until hot so it doesn't burn. Now dip the apples into the hot caramel using a spoon to pour caramel where needed. If desired, roll in the nuts. Then place on the greased wax paper and store in the fridge
