UNCG's volleyball team defeated Wofford 3-1 on Sunday afternoon and fell to Furman 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

In their match against Wofford, the Spartans had three players with an impressive number of kills. Branagan Fuller had a match-high 17 kills, Emily Lindborg had 14 kills, and Alissa Beaudway had 10 kills. Catherine Hanners tallied 18 digs in the win.

Game one against the Terriers saw three ties in the opening minutes. Wofford took command when they tallied a 13-10 lead. The Spartans got as close as 22-21 but they were unable to get any closer as the Terriers went on an 8-1 run to take the game at 30-22.

The Spartans came back with a vengeance when they opened game two with a 6-0 lead. After forcing several ties, Wofford managed to snag a 15-14 lead. The teams went back and forth until the Spartans took the 28-26 lead behind kills from Kayren Finney. The Spartans ultimately walked away with the 30-27 game two victory.

The third game was also dominated by back and forth play, but the Spartans took the game as their own when they took advantage of a kill from Fuller and a bad set from the Terriers' Joanna Suddath. The Spartans took the 30-24 game three win and the 2-1 match lead.

Wofford dominated early in game four but the Spartans managed to grab the 10-9 lead. Wofford forced several ties but the Spartans came out on top with 30-23 win and the 3-1 match victory.

The Spartans recorded their second consecutive SoCon loss when they fell to Furman 3-1.

The Lady Paladins came out with an intensity that led them to an early 7-0 lead. The Spartans tried to match the efforts of their opponents but the Lady Paladins' offensive momentum was too much for the Spartans to handle and they lost game one 30-14.

The Spartans were not deterred and the opening minutes of game two were evenly matched. Furman managed to grab the 23-18 lead and then proceeded to go on a 7-4 run they would never relinquish. The Spartans went down 30-22 in game two.

Determined to beat the Lady Paladins, the Spartans entered game three with an intensity that could rival the intensity Furman had in game one. The Lady Paladins took the early 2-0 lead but the Spartans took over with a 10-6 lead. With kills from Finney and Fuller, the Spartans went on an 18-6 run. UNCG thwarted any Furman efforts and took game three 30-20.

Determined to prevent a Spartan rally, the Lady Paladins opened the fourth game with an early 13-6 lead. UNCG tried to stop Furman's efforts but they could not find a weakness and fell to the Lady Paladins 30-15, thus losing the match 3-1.

The Spartans continue their road trip when they take on Appalachian State on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2:00 p.m. and Davidson on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m.
