Issue date: 11/6/07 Section: Arts & Entertainment
On Friday, Nov. 2, the English Society gathered at Tate Street Coffee House for their monthly poetry reading.
The English society is composed of UNCG students, faculty, and alumni, but all are welcome to take the stage and read either original works or poems from their favorite authors. Speakers included college students speaking about adolescent angst, a middle-aged mother sharing the joy of children, and an elderly man entertaining the audience with verses from his favorite poet.
The coffee house was nearly full as members of both the UNCG and the Greensboro community came out to enjoy a night of poetry. The event lasted from about 7:15 to around 8:45 ending with information about the English Society of UNCG.
