Bad reputation not just members' faults

In a recent edition of The Carolinian, Zachary Krensky stated that fraternities and sororities on our campus have a negative reputation. As a student here at UNCG and a non-member of a sorority, I'd have to agree with him. Personally, Greek life does give me a negative impression and doesn't compel me to join a sorority in the future.
I understand that the members of these organizations are not all jerks, but are well-rounded individuals . However, I believe it is other aspects that turn students away from Greek life as well, such as hazing, costs, and the amount of time spent in fraternities and sororities. The negative reputation of Greek life is not based on the members alone, but the structure of the organization itself.
